WAYNE D. GROVER is Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Alberta; Fellow of the IEEE; Fellow of the Engineering Institute of Canada, NSERC Steacie Fellow, and Chief Scientist (Network Systems) for TRLabs. He has 25 years experience in telecom R&D, and is internationally recognized for his contributions to self-organizing and survivable network design, fiber optic transmission systems design, and high-speed synchronization. His current research focuses on the design and performance of broadband digital and optical transport networks based on DWDM, SONET/SDH, ATM and IP/MPLS.
